      SHAYER, Lorraine Pauline Marie (née Couture) - The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Lorraine Shayer (née Couture) of Parksville, BC at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Victor for 50 years whom she married in 1966. The mother of Jason Shayer (wife Jennifer) of Toronto, ON and Leslie Shayer of Kelowna, BC. Proud Memere of Elizabeth, Brian, Claire, and Connor. Daughter of Paul (predeceased) and Rita Couture of Val Caron, ON. The sister of Micheline Gauthier (husband Rudolf) of Windsor, ON, Gilles (wife Simone) of Hanmer, ON, Maurice Couture (wife Linda) of Hanmer, ON, Robert Couture (wife Dee) of Manitoulin Island, ON, Joanne Legault (husband Richard) of Hanmer, ON, Lise Doucet (husband Gilles) of Sudbury, ON, Carmen Couture of Sudbury ON, and Therese Couture of Gatineau, QC. Born in Sudbury in 1946, Lorraine attended College Notre Dame in Sudbury, Ecole Normale in Sudbury, and graduated from Laurentian University in 1978. She began her teaching career at Sacre Coeur in Val Caron, taught at Ecole Ste Marie in Capreol for many years, then finished her career at Notre Dame du Rosaire in Blezard Valley, ON. She retired from teaching in 2000. She enjoyed travelling with her husband, working on crafts and fine needle work, and spent many hours tending her flower gardens. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking. She loved helping anyone in need and touched many with her happy, enthusiastic, and optimistic view of life. She moved to Parksville with her husband in 2005. Donations can be made to the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital or its Palliative Care Unit. Memorial Service in the Sudbury area to take place in Spring 2016.129
