Hi Mary Ellen
Sorry to hear that yourself and your Mum hadn't been well and glad to hear that you are both feeling a lot better.
Thank you for all the information about the family. I went on to your website and it is really good. It was great seeing all of my relatives. It's a pity that Matthew didn't write at the bottom
of the photos to say who was in them.
I couldn't believe my eyes when you wrote about James Grey! I lived with him and his wife Anne in Millburn Ave., Cleveland in 1959 for a month or six weeks and then went back East to
Hartford Conn., where I stayed with my Mum's siblings for 2 years before getting homesick and returning to Scotland. I remember Uncle Jim having a son, same name, married with a baby
son. Then there was their daughter Katie and another son called Dennis. Are Jim and Anne Grey still alive? You did say that they had a big family. I only remember the three that I mentioned. I loved America, but couldn't get over the homesickness. My sister Doreen and my friend Mary came to Hartford to live just after I moved there, but they reluctantly came back home to Scotland with me. I have regretted that ever since. Doreen has been living in Australia now for almost 18 years with her husband Matt, who is from Dublin, Eire and their three sons and one daughter. My friend Mary, married and went to Canada in 1965 but sadly died there last summer. I went to visit her and was with her for a month. Then just after I left to come home, she passed away. My brother Eugene lives only 3 miles away from Doreen. He went to Australia in 1965 along with my brother Rob but Rob came back here to marry and then emigrated to Canada. Eugene married an Aussie girl called Heather and they had 1 daughter and 2 sons. He owns 3 Prawn Trawlers. He is retired form sea now and his sons are Skippers on his boats. Rob and his wife Kate (no children) moved to California about 5 or 6 years ago I think and they live in Alta Loma. I haven't a clue where that is. Maybe your cousins will know.
I have attached 2 files for you. One is Grandad Montgomery's birth certificate and the other is their marriage certificate. Doreen and I went to the Church where they were married when Doreen was here last October. It was lovely to go there and think about them. I didn't know Grannie Bridget, but I knew Grandad very well.
Okay Mary Ellen, that's about it for now.
Hope you get these attachs. alright.
Take care,
Love, Maryellen.

Hi Mary Ellen
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. That was a nice surprise. First of all, I will give you my email addresses. maryellenmontgomery@fsmail.net maryellenmonty@yahoo.com memontgomery62@hotmail.com You can reach me at any of these. Sorry about getting the names wrong. I knew it was Catherine and I guess I typed in Anne by mistake. I'm glad Rab
sent you all those pictures. What is your Dad's first name? I forgot to ask Bridgit and Catherine how many sisters and brothers they had, so maybe you could tell me. Do you know anything about your Gran's sister Mary Mangan who married John Kimmett and eventually went to live in America or Canada? I often heard my Dad talking about his cousins the Kimmetts and being a lot younger, I didn't take much notice. Now I wish I had. None of my Dad's siblings are alive and it's been difficult for us to get the information we'd like. However, I think Rab is working on some info he received. So, I'll let you know if he gets any. Right I will explain a little of my own family to you. I am 65 years old and have 3 children. My eldest daughter Joanne who lives in the Northern Territories in Fort Providence, Canada, will be 40 years old in October. She is the nurse in charge of the station up there, looking after a
community of 700 Dene Native people. She has been in different parts of Canada for years, working in lots of hospitals and she loves being up North. She never married. My second daughter Annette, who will be 37 yrs. in June, is a Prison Officer in the biggest (men's jail) in Scotland. She has worked there for 12 years and is now the hairdressing Instructor, teaching the prisoners the profession. She has been married twice and has 2 children. Her daughter Carla from her 1 st. marriage will be 17years old in July and her son Dean Michael from her second marriage was 4 years old in January. My son Gerry, who lives in Toronto, Canada, will be 36yrs. in July is divorced and has one son named Conor, aged 12yrs come August. I am also divorced and my husband died over 20 yrs. ago. I reverted back to my maiden name when my family were very young and they are known as Montgomery.
I have three brothers and a sister. I am the eldest, then my brother Bill, who lives in Canada, my sister Doreen, whom you have seen in the photos, lives in Australia, my brother Eugene
lives in Australia and my youngest brother Robert, lives in California. I haven't gone into all the details about their familes, but if you want to know I will fill you in next time.
Did you get the attachment of Grandad's birth certificate that I sent? I will help you all I can and if you want to send me the family sheets, I'll fill them in with what I know.
Take care'
Sincerely,
Maryellen.

Hi Mary Ellen,
This is your third cousin Maryellen. I sent you an email with a copy of Grandad Montgomery's
birth certificate. Rab McCubbin our other cousin, told me about you and I told him I'd get in
touch with you. Unfortunately there was a whole list of reasons why I couldn't email you at that
time and I apologise for keeping you waiting.
Rab showed me the pictures you sent and I was amazed at how much you look like the
Montgomery side of our family! I was delighted to get a copy from him of the other pictures of
my Dad's cousins. I am Bill Montgomery's daughter and I remember my Dad talking about his
Aunt Sibby, Mary, Ellen.
My sister Doreen, who lives in Australia, was here last October and she and I went to Achill in
Co. Mayo to visit Brigit and Anne(R.I.P.) at Keel. They, as you probably know are cousins of
your Mum and my Dad. We had a great time with them. Sadly, Anne died in January, aged
90. She was a lovely lady. We took some pictures there and if you'd like a copy, I will send
them to you.
Rab told me that he had sent the photo of Gran Bridgit with the turkey. Well, I have a couple
more of those photos, so if he hasn't sent you those, let me know and I will send them also.1
have attached the file of Grandad's birth certificate again. Can you let me know if you received
my last email?
I hope to hear from you when you have time.
Sincerely,
Your cousin,
Maryellen.
